Brevard County, Fla. (April 13, 2011) – The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast (EDC) is pleased to announce that SolTec Electronics, an independent distributor of electronic and aerospace parts, is expanding its Rockledge facility. SolTec Electronics offers strategic procurement solutions for the supply chain by locating and providing obsolete electronic components.
As part of this expansion, SolTec Electronics will create eight new jobs. SolTec Electronics currently contributes over $1.9 million to the economy. When the expansion is complete, the company’s projected total economic impact will increase to nearly $3.1 million.
SolTec will expand its facility to 5400 square feet, doubling the current size. “We are honored to be recognized for our rapid growth over the past few years and enthusiastic about building strong partnerships with such great local organizations that will help our continued expansion & job creation efforts. As a small woman-owned business, we’re very proud of the impact we have already had on our local community and are excited about our continued growth into the future,” stated Dawn Gluskin, SolTec founder & CEO.
SolTec Electronics will continue to offer a variety of services to the manufacturing and aerospace sectors, including obsolescence and lead-time solutions, component testing and verification, inventory management, kitting service, and a zero counterfeit policy with their in-house test lab.
“We look forward to SolTec’s continued growth on the Space Coast and support the company’s efforts to establish itself as a top tier supply chain partner in the aerospace and electronic manufacturing sectors,” said Lynda Weatherman, president & CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast.
The EDC partnered with the Florida Economic Gardening Institute and its GrowFL program to assist the company in financing the expansion and purchase of equipment, representing a three-year capital investment of over $100,000. Additionally, the EDC guided the company to appropriate local workforce assistance programs and served as a liaison with the Florida Manufacturing Extension Partnership to assist SolTec in upgrading its certifications.
“The Florida MEP is currently working with SolTec to upgrade its current ISO9001 certification to meet the requirements of the AS9120. The upgrade will assist SolTec in expanding its market share to government markets,” said Julie Song, project manager, Florida Manufacturing Extension Partnership.
