Our six and a half million dollar budget is derived through a private-public partnership, with private-sector members contributing more than 60% of the total. The balance of the revenue comes from contracts for services with the local government partners.

The Metro Orlando EDC is a recognized innovator with a rich history of success. During fiscal year 2007, EDC projects reported a total of 3,604 jobs, $460 million in capital investment and 2.2 million square feet of real estate transactions. In addition, you will work with companies interested in relocating to the county as well as with local companies interested in expanding. Success will be measured broadly by progress on the implementation of the plan and specifically by your ability to generate leads and close projects that yield new jobs and capital investment.

As the Director, you will develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with Lake County private and public entities that can either provide leads for the EDC or provide assistance to facilitate the County's economic development process, as well as the following:

·        Conduct sales missions outside the region, calling on clients and prospects and marketing the Metro Orlando region and Lake County in person

·        Plan and participate in trade shows and conferences to build relationships and generate leads.

·        Record their prospect contacts and progress on projects in the EDC's business system

·        Maintain the confidentiality and trade secrets of the EDC and its clients at all times

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have a college degree in a related field with 5-10 years of related professional experience and prior economic development/business recruitment experience.  The successful individual will possess outstanding communications skills, be experienced in making presentations to large groups of people coupled with strong computer savvy skills especially in Microsoft Office.
