FEDC Sustainable Funding for Economic Development:

With the advent of property tax reform and subsequent cuts in local government budgets, most, if not all, of the economic development agencies in the state of Florida have experienced some reduction in their funding.  As these organizations struggle to make up the difference in private funding and adjust their budgets accordingly, the Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC) is taking on the lead in advocating for a sustainable funding source for economic development.

Towards that end, FEDC has created a Sustainable Funding Taskforce.  Our first order of business is to commission a consultant study on sustainable funding.  Our hope is that the study will identify several potential avenues of funding and create a method of fair allocation to local and regional economic development organizations within Florida.

Your help is needed!  An in-depth study is costly and will require the financial participation of all FEDC members.  To anchor our efforts, Enterprise Florida has offered matching funds of up to $50,000.  We hope that you and your organization will consider contributing to this important study.
