Description: In its 35th year, the USF Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC) is part of the required curriculum to qualify for the International Economic Development Council’s (IEDC) Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) exam.

Three key components to economic development in Florida:

1. One incentive fund and one signature. ED tools wrapped up in one fund.

2. One economic development, workforce development and community development. Eliminate silos.

3. One leader to be accountable.

The FEDC Board of Directors and Economic Development Professionals throughout the state of Florida have formed the Young Professionals Program. The mission of the YP Program is to reach, teach and train the next generation of economic development professionals in the state of Florida with the tools, contact and education they need to carry the torch of their peers.

In an effort to continue to make Florida a vibrant and economically sound place for business, education, and lifestyle the YP’s host monthly conference calls featuring industry specific topics. “The FEDC YP Ambassador program connects our young professionals with each other on a one-to-one basis. When a YP can’t make a monthly call, we have a phone tree set in place to share the most current information with them to keep all of group up to date with our material, training, and resources,” says Peter Tokar, Chair of the YP Group.
